THE INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Lilah Suzanne has been writing actively since the sixth grade, when a literary magazine published her essay about an uncle who lost his life to AIDS. A freelance writer, she has also authored a children’s book and has a devoted following in the fan fiction community. She is also the author of the Interlude Press books Spice and Pivot and Slip.
Can you give the readers a brief summary of your latest book?
Los Angeles-based stylist Nico Takahashi loves his job—or at least, he used to. Feeling fed up and exhausted from the cutthroat, gossip-fueled business of Hollywood, Nico daydreams about packing it all in and leaving for good. So when Grady Dawson—sexy country music star and rumored playboy—asks Nico to style him, Nico is reluctant. Can Nico make his peace with show business and all its trappings, or will Grady’s public persona get in their way of their private attraction to each other?
What genre does it fall in?
Contemporary Romance
Will you share a few words about your latest book, other than the usual blurb?
Nashville charm meets LA style.
Give us a little insight into your main characters! Who are they?
Nico is sharp, smart and stylishly buttoned up. Grady is charming, sexy and lives a life that is exposed in more ways than one.
Will we be seeing these characters again any time soon? Is this book part of a series?
Yes
Tell us a little bit about your writing style. When and where is your favorite time/place to write?
I usually write in the quiet mornings and early afternoons, and can only write at home. I get distracted too easily otherwise.
What sort of book do you enjoy reading in your free time? What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
I just (finally) read The Price of Salt. It was amazing
Did you always know you wanted to be a writer? Have you held any interesting jobs while you worked on your books?
I’ve dreamed of being a writer since I was very young. I used to work as a preschool teacher, which is certainly worlds away from writing romance!
What does your writing process look like?
I write at home, and I do not live alone so I’ve had to get used to writing in the quiet, quick beats of time I can. My writing process by necessity is to sit down and get it done because I may not get another chance.
Why did you choose to write GLBTQ romance? Why not another genre?
I like to say it found me, because those were the stories I was drawn to. I’m bisexual, so I think a big part of it was reading love stories where everyone gets a happy ending, something I wish I’d had when I was younger. And even today happy LGBT stories are sometimes hard to find. That’s why I’m so committed to always giving my characters their happily ever after.
One last questions…totally unrelated to books! I am a passionate foodie. Is there one thing in your pantry that you would be horrified for people to know that you eat?
I’m hooked on flavored coffee creamers, the more artificial the better!
Thank you so much for answering my questions. I think my readers will enjoy learning more about you! Good luck in your future writing!
