Tell us a little bit about yourself!

Can you give the readers a brief summary of your latest book?
A sexy bet on a basketball tournament challenges nerdalicious Edwin and party-boy Ollie to change their relationship status from frenemies to lovers. Metrics and tournament brackets—who knew they were sexy? When competing dorm advisors Edwin and Ollie bet on a basketball tournament, neither expects he’s risking his heart. As the challenge becomes a hot bedroom battle to avoid real feelings, the two “frenemies” must change their definitions of losing to win a shot at lasting love.
What genre does it fall in?
Contemporary Romance
Will you share a few words about your latest book, other than the usual blurb?
I wanted to write a frenemies-to-lovers story about opposites attracting. And I love March Madness, so the idea of a bet seemed so much fun! This is possibly the most fun writing I’ve ever had!
Give us a little insight into your main characters! Who are they?
Edwin is a total stats geek and a by-the-book Residence Hall assistant. But for four years, party-boy Ollie has gotten under Edwin’s skin. Each is actually a lot deeper than the stereotype, but it takes a sexy bet for them to learn the truth about each other–and the depth of their feelings.
Will we be seeing these characters again any time soon? Is this book part of a series?
Campus Cravings by multiple authors–each book stands completely alone, but shares the same fictional college setting.
Tell us a little bit about your writing style. When and where is your favorite time/place to write?
While my kids are at school in the morning, but I do a lot of late night writing too.
What sort of book do you enjoy reading in your free time? What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?
Indra Vaughn’s Dust of Snow really blew me away. Perfect holiday tale, and I’ll be looking for more by this new-to-me author!
Did you always know you wanted to be a writer? Have you held any interesting jobs while you worked on your books?
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I started penning fan fic for my barbies in elementary school. Currently, I work as a professor while writing on the side.
What does your writing process look like?
I’m a slightly obsessive plotter. I start with post-it notes and note cards for scenes and eventually get an outline together of the major turning points of a book before I start writing. Then I draft. I try to “fast draft” but it’s more like Dodge Neon in the Indy 500 fast. Then I edit one round on paper, then do a round of computer edits, sometimes two rounds of computer edits, then it goes to my critique partners for yet another round of edits.
Why did you choose to write GLBTQ romance? Why not another genre?
I’m passionate about GLBTQ rights, but I didn’t consciously set out to write mainly GLBTQ romance. Instead, my muse started bringing me the most fascinating heroes, all of whom were demanding I pair them with an equally fabulous co-hero. I’ve always written love and love stories, and my latest stories illustrate my deeply held belief that love is love. It’s my duty to give my characters the happy ending they deserve no matter what their identity or orientation is.
One last questions…totally unrelated to books! I am a passionate foodie. Is there one thing in your pantry that you would be horrified for people to know that you eat?
Coffee Creamer. Oh I have half-and-half too, but I have a weakness for those horrible-for-you creamers, especially sugar free peppermint mocha.
Thankyou so much for answering my questions. I think my readers will enjoy learning more about you! Good luck in your future writing!
