Book Blurb:
The FAA has been struggling with dragons attacking their planes, and hire Dane, a supernatural consultant, to look into the matter. What Dane finds in the woods is not quite the problem he expected: a group of dragon kits and their sick father.
When he learns the real reason the family was in the woods, his case only grows more dangerous, and while Dane is plenty experienced at watching his own back, taking care of baby dragons and their handsome, distracting father almost makes danger look easy.
My Review:
Dragon Consultant by Mell Eight was a great story, however I think it is mislabeled as a romance book. Sure, there are two adult males in it who are cautiously interested in each other. However, there is no real romance or even relationship building at all. There are two rather chaste kisses between them, although they have expressed an interest in getting to know each other better. So, I will review the story itself, which I really enjoyed. However, if you are looking for even a hint of romance, this is probably not the book for you. Dragon Consultant is a short novella which is part of a longer series so hopefully the relationship between Dane and Mercury continues to develop as we also dig deeper into the mystery of the story itself….
Dragon Consultant was a well thought out story with a nice mix of seriously cute baby dragons, magical mischief and a mystery to solve. Dane is a paranormal investigator with some seriously powerful magic. He is called on to solve a problem for the federal government and his solution results in a house full of dragon kits and one very attractive grown up male dragon. Unfortunately, danger arrives on his front door along with his new dragon family
The federal government, or at least someone in it, is experimenting on dragons. Dane and Mercury, along with their magically gifted dragon kits, are trying to stop this nightmare, but they are up against humans who have harnessed some powerful magic.
I loved all the characters that the author created in this story. Each kit is so unique and well thought out. I wanted to snuggle a few, reprimand a few and just hug every single one of them. Danes friends are great supporting characters and Mercury is a wonderful balance of powerful dragon and slightly insecure man.
Dragon Consultant is a rather short novella and I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if the mystery itself was developed in more detail. I assume that will be coming along in the next book of the series. If you are looking for a well written story with a ton of cuteness and a bit of chaotic dragon mischief, this is definitely a story you will enjoy.
