In Lone Wolf by Aleksandr Voinov and L.A. Witt we meet Kevin and Hunter. When Kevin sends his online friend the fanfic novel he wrote, he never expects that it will lead to fame and fortune. Or a passionate love affair with his favorite author! This post contains affiliate links.

Hunter Easton is screwed. Fans, producers, and his agent are all chomping at the bit for the next book in his wildly popular Wolf’s Landing series, but he’s got epic writer’s block and is way behind deadline. Then he reads The World Tree, a fanfic novel by his online friend “Lone Wolf.” It isn’t just a great story—it’s exactly what the series needs.
Kevin Hussain is thrilled when “Wolf Hunter” wants to meet up after reading The World Tree. When Wolf Hunter turns out to be Hunter Easton himself, Kevin is starstruck. When Hunter tells him he wants to add The World Tree to Wolf’s Landing, Kevin is sure he’s being pranked. And when their online chemistry carries over—big time—into real life, Kevin is convinced it’s all too good to be true.
The problem is . . . it might be. The book deal, the sex, the money—everything is amazing. But fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and Kevin is left wondering if Hunter really loves him, or just loves his book.
My Review:
Lone Wolf by Aleksandr Voinov and L.A. Witt is meant to be a standalone book but I think you would definitely benefit from reading the other books in the series first. Knowing the other characters and their history will give this book more depth.
In Lone Wolf, we have Hunter Easter, rich and famous author of the Wolf’s Landing series who is suffering a severe case of writer’s block. We also have Kevin Hussain, amateur fanfic writer who has written The World Tree, a fanfic continuation of the Wolf Landing series. Unbeknownst to Kevin, his long time online friend ‘Wolf Hunter’ is actually the series author Hunter Easter. When Kevin sends his online friend the fanfic novel he wrote, he never expects that it will lead to fame and fortune. Or a passionate love affair with his favorite author!
I liked Hunter Easton’s character…he was calm, collected and a bit neurotic. All things that I would expect from a famous author who has been in the limelight for quite some time. He is protective of his privacy and his personal space. Deadlines stress him out but he manages to meet them with the help of a competent personal assistant and lots of caffeine. He is not particularly bothered by fame and fortune any more since he has been writing this series for quite some time.
Kevin annoyed me a bit. He is younger (about 20 years younger) and seriously stressed out at the situation that has plopped itself in his lap. The whopping sum of money he is paid for his book, the fans, the stress and the deadlines all drive him a little farther around the bend. It is to be expected, I’m sure, but he came off a tad bit whiny. His character just didn’t grab me quite as much as Hunter’s did.
I really enjoyed the inside look at the writing and publishing industry. While I have zero knowledge of it, the authors really made it come alive. I can only imagine how chaotic a life it must be to get a book to print! The relationship between our two main characters is passionate with plenty of angst. Mainly on Kevin’s part since he can’t quite get his head around the fact that he is falling in love with his favorite author.
Overall, I enjoyed Lone Wolf, although I found that parts of it dragged a bit and I really just wanted to see these two get their act together and move on with their relationship. But, overall I think Lone Wolf was well written and a nice continuation of the series.
