August 23, 2016 by Devan Huff Leave a Comment

In Wriggle & Sparkle by Megan Derr, Lynn (a kraken shifter) and Anderson (a unicorn shifter) are thrown together as partners for the Federal Bureau of Paranormal Security and Investigation. As they solve mysteries and battle enemies, their partnership grows in ways they never would have expected.  I received one copy of this book at no charge in exchange for my honest reviews but all opinions expressed here are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

Wriggle & Sparkle Blurb:

Lynn is a kraken shifter in every way: detailed, tenacious, resilient, and hard-working. Also possessive, vain, arrogant, and demanding. It makes him an excellent agent for the Federal Bureau of Paranormal Security and Investigation—and impossible to work with, as the long list of partners who have transferred away from him will attest.
His newest partner is a unicorn, possibly the worst type of paranormal for work that often turns ugly and violent. Everyone knows unicorns are too delicate for such things. Then Anderson proves to be a unicorn like no other, the kind of partner Lynn has always wanted—the kind of partner he wishes was more. But if there’s one thing he’s learned, it’s that the only thing harder to keep than a partner is a lover.

Wriggle & Sparkle Review:

Wriggle & Sparkle by Megan Derr is unlike any book I have ever read before and I am actually rather shocked at how much I enjoyed it!  I have never read anything by this author but this one just grabbed my attention and I decided to give it a shot.  Who knew that tentacle porn could be so hot!  Yes, there really is tentacle porn!

Lynn is a kraken shifter and has a serious attitude.  He’s a good guy but seriously demanding and arrogant.  He goes through a lot of partners in his job as an agent for the  Federal Bureau of Paranormal Security and Investigation.  They don’t tend to stick around long.

Anderson is a unicorn shifter and those are supposed to be rather timid and delicate.  No one told that to Anderson, apparently.  He is forceful enough to put up with his new partner’s attitude and gives as good as he gets.  Lynn is intrigued.  And incredibly possessive of his sparkly unicorn!

These characters are so incredibly unique and you get a complete story that spans a few years, from their meeting all the way to their happily ever after.  Lynn and Anderson have this awesome relationship that is part snarky bickering and part cuddly love affair.  It was a beautiful balance.

I love the world that the author created.  Things were very well detailed and the author did a thorough job of explaining the general characteristics of all the other shifter types that dwell in this world she created.

Lynn was unique in that he not only changes shape but also gender periodically.  So, there will be a few girly bits in some of the sex scenes along with tentacles.  I will just say that I was hesitant about that but now I need to go find more kraken shifter stories!

Wriggle & Sparkle by Megan Derr is a long story and I loved watching Lynn and Anderson’s relationship develop.  From that first moment they met as partners to the epilog where they get their happily ever after, I loved every minute of this book.  Each individual short story had its own drama and mystery to deal with so in this book, you get multiple conflicts and plenty of action.  You will need a good long time to dedicate to this story!
