My Review:
After reading Spaghetti Western, the most recent book in EM Lynley’s Delectable series, I was curious to see where the whole series started. Brand New Flavor is book one of this series and a cute introduction to her flavorful romances!
In Brand New Flavor, we meet Cameron who is a very well known food critic, as he visits a charity tasting event. Imagine his delight when he stumbles upon not only the most delicious icecream he has ever tasted, but also the hottest GUY he has ever seen. Jay’s unique icecream flavors capture the attention of his taste buds but it is Jay himself that Cameron is most drawn to. A brief interlude in the delivery truck has Cameron thinking he has found his soul mate but fate intervenes in the form of a lost business card.
Jay had no idea that Cameron was a famous food critic…he just fell for a hot guy and amazing chemistry. However his co workers clue him in to who his mystery guy really is and then the doubts set it. Having been burned by a guy once, he is definitely short on trust and when Cameron doesn’t call the next day he’s kicking himself for his stupidity. However, there are complications that he isn’t aware of and Jay and Cameron have a few hurdles to overcome before they get their happily ever after.
Brand New Flavor offers a nice blend of passion, angst, drama and a happily ever after. The description of the icecream textures and flavors had me seriously craving a bowl myself. I need this icecream to be real and stocked in my local grocery store! I did think the story was a tad bit short and would have liked to know more about each character before the opening scene where the two guys met. Most of the story takes place while the two are apart…with Cameron actively searching for his mystery man and Jay kicking himself over his stupidity. There is a happily ever after at the end but I was hoping to get a little bit more insight into their life together. There were a few issues left unresolved that I think could have been tied up better. However, overall I really liked Brand New Flavor and will definitely be reading more books in this series!
