WILD by Adrienne Wilder is a truly amazing LGBT romance novel. Lost in the Alaskan wilderness, August doesn’t stand a chance at survival without Keegan Brooks. But Keegan has secrets darker than night, more dangerous than wolves, and more brutal than an Alaskan winter. And if you love outdoor romances, check out Overexposed by Megan Erickson, an awesome Appalachian trail romance.

WILD by Adrienne Wilder
August Vallory had it all. A modeling career, a man he loved, and the extended family he’d acquired in the business. Then the world he knew was torn away when the plane he was on crashed en route to a photo shoot.
Lost in the Alaskan wilderness, August doesn’t stand a chance.
No sane man would choose to live in the Alaskan bush unless he had something to hide. And Keegan Brooks has secrets darker than night, more dangerous than wolves, more brutal than an Alaskan winter.
Every day was a fight for his life until he stumbled upon a downed plane with a lone survivor. Now it’s no longer just Keegan’s life teetering on the edge of survival.
My Review:
Let me just say that WILD by Adrienne Wilder is a truly amazing LGBT romance novel. One of those books you don’t put down until you have finished it. Even if the kids are begging for dinner or you have to go to sleep. You have to keep turning every dang page!
The setting:
The author does a phenomenal job of describing the desolate Alaskan wilderness. You will actually FEEL cold. Seriously. The vastness of it and the frigid temperatures. The absolute impossibility of survival unless you are incredibly knowledgeable and very, very lucky.
The characters:
August has been in a plane crash. His half of the plane has only one survivor and the conditions that the author describes are gruesome. This is definitely not a good book for the squeamish. He is injured and backwoods survival is raw and ugly at times. He is a model and so NOT able to survive on his own. But, deep down, he has an inner strength that is truly amazing. I loved that he wasn’t some spoilt little pampered thing. He is beautiful to look at but so much more than a pretty face.
Keegan has a dark past and staying lost in the Alaskan wilderness is a matter of life or death. He has been out there a long time. He has a huge heart for such a gruff man but he also doesn’t sugar coat things for August. Keegan falls so hard for August but he knows deep down that they can never be together.
For most of the book, these are really the only two major characters. Except for one seriously pissed off and possibly downright evil grizzly bear. Yeah…she really had it out for them! And one very loyal wolf pup. At the end, when everything starts coming to a head, you will meet a few more players in the story.
The Plot and Romance:
I am totally not giving the plot away! Most of the plot is about sheer survival intertwined with falling in love. But, there are deeper and darker things in there as well. It is incredibly well written with just the right amount of romance tucked in between the pages to keep you warm. I loved how the book wrapped up. Plenty of page-turning tension with a beautiful happily ever after. The sex is hot and raw and so absolutely beautiful at the same time. It is well woven into the fabric of the plot itself. I wanted more of the epilog ….while it was a sweet wrap-up to the story I just wasn’t given quite enough of these guys exploring life after Alaska.
Overall, WILD by Adrienne Wilder is a fabulous LGBT romance novel. In fact, the first thing I did when I finished was to go back to Amazon and buy another book by this author! And let me just say that In The Absence Of Light was just as fabulous!
