My Review:
The Talented Mr. Rivers is Book 2 of the Tough Love series by HelenKay Dimon and if you love a good romance suspense novel, you need to grab this one and start reading! Each book is really part of an interconnected series so you should probably read them in order. Book #1 is Mr. and Mr. Smith and Book #3 is Guarding Mr Fine which you can find in the links below. It was a fabulous book. This author is quickly becoming a favorite!
The Characters
So, in The Talented Mr Rivers, we get the story of Will and Hunter. Will is the youngest Rivers sibling who has spent much of his life protected from his brutal, crime ridden family. He is not ignorant of their dealings, nor is he some wilting flower. I loved the balance that the author created in this character. Cultured yet not conceited. Innocent yet not helpless. Strong but not outwardly powerful. He wants no part of his family’s business dealings but he can’t walk away alive without dealing with them. He DOES want Hunter with a passion that is incredibly powerful and too strong to resist.
Hunter is the strong, silent type. Classic stoic German bodyguard (and undercover agent!) with an inner softness that only seems to come into play when it comes to Will. I loved watching him slowly open up to Will, even though you could see how hard it was for him to bare his soul even a small amount. He struggles with whether he can really trust Will, although deep in his heart he knows he can.
The secondary characters are players from the previous book and very well developed. I loved the snarky attitude Hunter had with the members of his team. Even though he really didn’t want a team to start with!
The Plot
I’m not going to give away too much here. Basically, in the previous story, you are left with the death of some key players (or possible death….), giant explosions, and questions about who is in control of what. Will has to go into hiding for a short time but if he truly wants to be free from his family’s past and criminal ties, he has to step up and tie up a few loose ends. It is intense and well written and will have you turning page after page to uncover the truth. Will has to really step up and play man in charge, even though he really doesn’t want to. And Hunter needs to learn to step back and LET him, which is incredibly hard for him to do!
The Chemistry
Hunter and Will are seriously hot for each other. In the beginning of the book, they are ‘scratching an itch’ and just letting off steam. But they quickly come to realize that they are not only attracted to each other but starting to have feelings for each other as well. These two guys are scorchingly hot together but there is a beauty to their developing relationship that gives the sex a deeper meaning.

Seriously, this is an incredible series that you don’t want to miss! This author is definitely going to go on my auto buy list. The Talented Mr Rivers is an awesome balance of well written suspense with just enough heat and emotion to make it a solid romance book!
